{from the past to to the present} | Colleyville / Dallas / Fort Worth Child Photographer

Sunday, May 22nd, 2011

I love a golden field just before sunset, especially when there’s a dear, sweet, smart beauty to take it by storm! This cutie did a spectacular job hunting for flowers, bugs, and doing lots of spins for me in her mom’s First Communion dress. This dress was made by a family friend in the 70s and we all smiled HUGE when C put it on. What fun! ***I’m dying to see pics of her mom in it — hint, hint! :) ***

The bell sleeves, eyelets, and big yellow bow are such incredible touches!

A natural beauty, inside and out.

I am incredibly honored to be asked to capture this special time in C’s life, as she prepares for her First Communion. We started our day out at her family church in Colleyville, where we took many traditional portraits and details of her dress (see below), a beautifully beaded flower girl dress from her parent’s wedding. Then we headed to Fort Worth, to the church where this little lady’s mom and dad got married. I absolutely love it when families tie in parts of their past with the present and future. It truly makes sessions more meaningful as familiar places, and items from the past are are revisited and celebrated.

Truly a magical afternoon.

Hope you have a lovely day!

{Gorgeous kiddos!}

This three-session smile marathon with four couples and their families was speedy, yet SO awesomely productive. :) These family members drove down from Mississippi and Ohio and I was thrilled to be able to be there to preserve their family history! I have so many portraits of our family growing up, especially with grandparents, and I adore them.

I absolutely love capturing family love. I know I’ve said this before, but ever since my father-in-law passed away a year and a half ago, I see SO much value in extended family portraits. I always wish we had just one more portrait with Jay and our family, or Jay and my kiddos.

It was an honor to be asked to capture this sisterly love, too!

Hope you have a fantastic day!

TRIPLE dose of adorable! | Maggie McDonald Photography | Dallas / Fort Worth Child Photographer

Thursday, May 5th, 2011

When we FIRST moved to Texas, I met the momma of this family via a fun Parks and Rec course for our older kiddos.  It was fun to see a familiar face daily and because we were both “fresh” to Texas, there was lots to talk about — favorite restaurants, preschools, classes, kid activities, the latest LeapFrog movie.  :)  I’ve been fortunate enough to photograph them twice now!  This time, they had loads of family in from out of state, so we worked together to get some extended family portraits, as well as individual family and child portraits.  We zipped straight past the getting-to-know you stage and right to this :
{LOVE those missing teeth}

The M kiddos are SOOOO adorable with an extra dose of sweetness.  We see them quite often (softball, Daisies) and it’s always a running hug for me from one little lady, and big grins with “hello, Miss Maggie” from the others.

I can’t WAIT to show them the rest of their portraits…ALMOST done editing. :)

Hope you have a lovely, sunny day!

{SWING TIME! — love little sis in the background}

I had fun meeting these three siblings and their mom at home last week.  Mom wanted casual portraits with her children doing what they do best  – being themselves.  :)  That involved relaxing, jumping on the trampoline, sliding, swinging, AND some bubble play.  :)  Sessions at home are easy-peasy for kiddos that might not be comfortable in a new setting and for this fam, it worked out great!

{Big Brother was ready to go — so easy to photograph!}

and lastly…oh man is she cute!!!

What a beautiful family!  Thanks so much for choosing me to capture these at-home moments…it was FUN!

Hope you have a lovely day!

flavor: a life saver shoot! | Push52 | dallas / fort worth photography

Saturday, February 5th, 2011

Oh boy, it’s been FOREVER!!!  I intend to blog week after week, but the cuddles and book reading with the kiddos have been getting the best of me.  ESPECIALLY this last week, where school was canceled a whopping FOUR DAYS in a row!

So, here I am,  all ready to blog some images I shot this eve for a fun project/challenge called Push52.  This week’s word was: flavor, so I decided to photograph these round, colorful and tasty Life Savers. :)

I couldn’t resist some kid fingers in there.  :)

My favorite flavor.  :)

And just to give you an idea of what’s been going on around here lately…

I’m working on a little book of our February adventures, prompted by the daily topics via Willette’s The Joy of Love class.  This was Day 01, where I was to photograph “what they do.”  I *totally* lucked out because both the kiddos were busy at the same time — SHE: making a valentine for her Mimi and Papa (LOVES art!),  HE: playing Star Wars (major phase right now).

I have some SUPER action sledding shots to blog from yesterday…keep your eyes peeled.

Hope you have a lovely day!  Lots an LOTS of upcoming adventures and exciting stuff happening with Maggie McDonald Photography — can’t wait to fill you in!

{Golden Leaves PLUS a stunning mom and her adorable, impeccably dressed son — L.O.V.E!}

Changing leaves mean cooler weather is right around the corner and I just LOVE the four seasons. If it was up to hubby, there would be maybe TWO seasons, but the rest of us at home (dogs+kitties+kiddos+me) really love the varying weather the Texas seasons bring us. Hey, at least it’s better than Arizona! :)

I met up with this incredible mother and son pair last week and we had a great time experiencing all the teachable moments and fun nature brings. We saw bugs, fish, changing leaves, berries, and there were LOTS of sticks. Almost two-year-olds LOVE sticks…

…and vintage trikes that just happen to pop up on the path.

Thank you so very much, T, for trusting in me to capture you and your handsome little man again — it was SUCH a pleasure!

*****I am longing to get my kiddos out amongst the leaves, so stay tuned for a McDonald kiddo session coming SOON!*****

Little Red Wagon | Dallas / Fort Worth Photography | Holiday Mini Sessions

Friday, November 5th, 2010

The stylin’ K family got out of the car ready to go!  They had super cute coordinating clothes, an adorable hat and wagon for the blue-eyed li’l guy, and most of all, carefree personalities and trust that the session and location would just work.  And, of course, it did!

Mom and Dad loved on little C the whole session and he just grinned from ear to ear.  He proudly showed off his walking skills and had quite a fun time being airplaned through the air by his papa, and snuggled by mom.

OH so fun!  I just love how his little arms are going straight up.  :)

What a handsome, handsome little guy — an absolute a delight to photograph!

Hope you have a lovely rest of your day!

And ruffles on the buns of girly outfits.

And sweet families.

And very well behaved cute doggies. Check out Izzy on the right, zooming into the shot!

And girlies with rosettes in their hair who give their momma love just because…

I’m honored that this family chose me to do their very first family portraits! Their little lady is almost 11 months and wanted to be on the GO!  Can’t wait to show you all the rest.  :)

Hope you have a lovely day!

my OTHER two almost-kiddos | dallas / fort worth portrait photographer | holiday mini sessions

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

It’s always SO much fun to see these two. I love it because they make my kiddos grin from ear to ear, whether it’s conversations on the telephone from Texas to Arizona, or they are playing in person. Our kiddos pretty much grew up together, so every year (and hopefully more often than that) we get the gang together to create some sort of ruckus. ;)

This image above really GETS me! It’s how I see them most of the time…

And these portraits just show how beautiful and handsome they really are.

This series is just SO cute. It was T’s idea to sit on this tree and I think it was the absolute *perfect* spot!

SOOOoooo many more to go through and edit. I LOVE love L.O.V.E the adorable outfits their momma chose. The bold pink/orange combo looks AMAZING with the blue plaid amongst all the greenery. Some good ol’ color pop in nature just makes me sing and dance!

Thank you, J, for trusting ME to capture your two adorable pumpkins. I loved everything about this session…all the way down to the hula hooping at the end. ;)

I hope you have one lovely day!

Ahhh…gorgeous loving family. Super fun, sweet, funny, relaxed. These are the shots we get at first…
(i just love baby girl in her wrap all snuggled close to mom)

And thennnnn…things get fun, lovey-dovey and just a TAD crazy. We like real smiles over here, that’s for SURE! :)

It’s so awesome that they can 100% be themselves with a camera nearby! Guess it helps that I’ve been photographing them for years….sheesh…I just said YEARS!
LOVE the orange, pink and blue mix of clothing here, too. The colors just pop enough to give their portraits some oomph! Plaids, flowers, and solids have all been put together flawlessly. LOVELY job, C!

Hope you have one super day.
The B siblings will grace the blog manana! Yesss! Thx for stopping by…
