Cutest “We’re Having a Baby” Announcement EVER! | DFW Family Photographer

Friday, January 4th, 2013

The grand plan was to design holiday cards for this terrific family from their earlier 2012 session, but when the mom let me know a big secret (they were expecting!), we did both!  This was a HUGE secret — nobody was to know until the big reveal (the announcements in the mail!), even the kiddos.  How’d we pull this off??!!  Well, let me tell ya…

First, mom found an adorable idea on Pinterest (this card/session is based off that!).

Second, we assembled the participants – Mom, two ADORABLE kiddos, me, and a blank vintage chalkboard…some colorful & delicious lollis at the end always help, too!  ;)

(here the kiddos are before we REALLY got started…)

Third, we got all crazy cute and funny — the whole session took us about 8 minutes (yay us!!!).    I asked the kids to do various silly things and they were just perfect.  We did a whole lot of laughing (see below)…

The mom and I met several days afterwards to decide on the perfect pictures for the text…didn’t take us long at all.  I digitally placed the text, we found a card to compliment their cute little outfits, and we were finished.

Here’s their gorgeous announcement…

(names blurred out, of course, for their privacy!)

Mom and I were practically on the floor laughing as soon as this happened…

Still makes me laugh out loud every time I see this picture.  :)    A HUGE congrats to the fun, spunky, & oh-so-cool D family…can’t wait to meet the new baby in June!!!

And…Happy New Year!!!

Little Miss in a Vintage Crate | Maggie McDonald Photography | Dallas / Fort Worth Family Photographer

Tuesday, August 21st, 2012

So, so fun to see this cutie pie and her family again.

I last saw her as an itty bitty newborn and now she’s sitting, crawling, and standing with some help from mom.  :)  How time flies!

I just love that her mom, dad and sis came along for her six month portraits — so much love and laughter make me one happy photog.  PLUS, mom and dad love all things vintage, so my wooden crate, heart quilt (LOOOOOVE this new find!), and her cutie-pie old fashioned dress (brought by mom) were perfect additions to our session.  LOVE getting to know parents and what they love!

So incredibly honored to capture this little lady once again…

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have one incredible day!

P.S.  If you are interested in booking a holiday mini session in the DFW area or in Phoenix, please click {here} for more information on my Facebook page — info will be on the blog soon.  Slots are going quickly!

{Little Smiler} | DFW Family Photography | Maggie McDonald Photography

Thursday, July 5th, 2012

I thoroughly enjoyed this sunny morning session.  This beautiful little lady got out of the car full of smiles — she was ready from the get-go!  I loved every minute of this sweet family’s interactions.

This momma was given a gift certificate for a mini session from a lovely friend and I have had the best time watching her grow up via Facebook, just knowing we’d have a session in the future.  I love this age and the moments we captured — her reaching for her mom’s face as she puts her in the air just melts my heart.   :)

Hope you have one lovely day!  Be on the lookout for more summer sessions coming up…

Sisters & Besties | Maggie McDonald Photography

Monday, June 11th, 2012

Ahhh…the special relationship between sisters.  There’s really nothing like it!

I was SO thrilled to be contacted by S (the big sis) to do a sister’s session before M (little sis) left for college in the fall!  These two super sweet gals admitted that the last time they really had portraits taken together was six years ago…it was definitely time!   We had such a nice time together early Saturday morning in the golden sun (my fav!) for our Mini Session.  I enjoyed hearing about their hobbies, jobs, jobs-to-be, and their close relationship.  After I got home, I received a really sweet ‘thank you’ email from S that also included a picture of a grasshopper that rode home in her boot.  Her dog had quite a blast watching the little guy hop, apparently.  LOVE it.

Thanks, you two, for really making my day.  Your smiles and genuine love for each other were an honor to capture.  I only wish you both the best and can’t wait to show you the rest!

Hope you have a lovely day!

Abroad…in just a few short days! | DFW Family Photographer | Maggie McDonald Photography

Wednesday, May 30th, 2012

Do I get nervous when photographing?   Yes!  Typically, on my way to a session, I get “that feeling” and then when I meet my client(s) and we get started, the nerves just melt away.  Ummmm…but what  happens when I photograph a fellow photographer’s family?  TRIPLE/QUADRUPLE  those nerves!!!  :)

Please meet fellow photographer Kelly Holder, and her lovely, hilarious, spirited, sweet family.  They traveled to the DFW area for their session from Killeen, TX, and are leaving on another more permanent adventure (moving to GERMANY!) in several days.  I LOVE that amidst the stresses of a move (and boy, moving stresses are endless–I know from experience!), Kelly decided that she wanted to remember Texas and capture her family in their “now.”  Even though it took a lot (travel, hotel, packing, wrangling dogs, time, etc), they’ll have these portraits to look back on to remember this time in their lives…before their European adventure began.

These portraits will help them remember their little lady’s big smiles at her parents (when she wasn’t putting her fingers into her mouth), their little guy doing an awesome Moonwalk for us, AND the GIANT fuzzy caterpillar that tried to made a beeline for their oldest son’s toes (he may or may not have let out a little yelp).  ;)

What an honor to capture this family, and oh what FUN I had.  Safe travels, H Family — cannot wait to hear all about your journey!  I’ll be in touch with all your stunning portraits soon.

Hope you have a lovely day.

He’s Home | Celebrating Adoption Session | Maggie McDonald Photography

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012

This family met me with all smiles.  Their little man, adopted from China about a month ago, fit into their family just perfectly.   I absolutely loved being able to witness their family love and the tenderness his sisters had toward him was incredibly touching.

I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the organization, Celebrating Adoption.  I have met incredible families and children through C.A. and just treasure sessions that I am able to photograph.    Thank you, W Family, for choosing me to capture your love.  It was an honor!

Hope you have a lovely day!    ~mm

Waiting out the rain… | Colleyville Family Photographer | Maggie McDonald Photography

Saturday, May 19th, 2012

The gray clouds on the morning of our session looked worse and worse as I headed out to our location.  As soon as I arrived the downpour began, so we all got to know each other in the car.  So, so glad mom wanted to wait out the storm because after about 5 minutes of pouring, it tapered off and we were able to head out and have some f-u-n.  It’s been simply impossible to narrow down images from this session, which is definitely a good thing!   Check out all this laughter and love!

This fam was constantly smiling, laughing, playing…we all had such a great time.  It was super special that “Nana” was visiting, so we made sure to include her in some portraits, too.  SO important to have grandparents in pictures!  Off to edit the rest of my faves….

Thanks for SUCH a fun morning, B and family!

Hope you have a wonderful day~

Hayden (of Hayden’s Hike) and his cutie pie sister | Grapevine Family Photography | Maggie McDonald Photography

Tuesday, May 15th, 2012

Met up with these sibs last week and they sure made me laugh — I just loved their interactions as we explored and had fun together.

What a beauty.

Love these!  :)

I first met this handsome fellow (and the rest of his fam, of course) when I photographed Hayden’s Hike on April 1st.  Hayden’s Hike was an event sponsored and coordinated by Scott LeMaster Salon, where friends, family, and other giving and supportive individuals in the community came to raise money for Hayden and his family.  You can read more about the hike {via NeighborsGo}, {Facebook}, and {the Irving News}.

Obviously it was TONS of fun.  :)   If you’d like to see a slideshow of the whole event, please click {here} and turn your volume up.  If you attended the event and would love and image or two, feel free to comment below and I’ll hook you up!

Totally honored to photograph this event and SO so happy I was able to meet and photograph these kids.

Hope you have one lovely day!

{together again & loving out loud} | dallas / fort worth family photography

Monday, April 9th, 2012

Capturing families is one of my most favorite things to do.  I love being able to record the little glances, squeezes, and spontaneous smiles that just seem to happen when people that love each other are together.  I was honored to photograph this family last week — three family members were in Dallas from other states and I had a lovely time with them exploring a more urban setting and then wrapping up in some gorgeous Texas Bluebonnets.  We had fun chasing little “D” around as he explored his surroundings.  Three year olds are always incredibly curious and quick, which definitely leads to spontaneous FUN!

Can’t wait to make my way through all of these — LOVE them all.  :)

Hope you have a lovely day!
