Little Miss in a Vintage Crate | Maggie McDonald Photography | Dallas / Fort Worth Family Photographer

Tuesday, August 21st, 2012

So, so fun to see this cutie pie and her family again.

I last saw her as an itty bitty newborn and now she’s sitting, crawling, and standing with some help from mom.  :)  How time flies!

I just love that her mom, dad and sis came along for her six month portraits — so much love and laughter make me one happy photog.  PLUS, mom and dad love all things vintage, so my wooden crate, heart quilt (LOOOOOVE this new find!), and her cutie-pie old fashioned dress (brought by mom) were perfect additions to our session.  LOVE getting to know parents and what they love!

So incredibly honored to capture this little lady once again…

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have one incredible day!

P.S.  If you are interested in booking a holiday mini session in the DFW area or in Phoenix, please click {here} for more information on my Facebook page — info will be on the blog soon.  Slots are going quickly!

Summer brings…

Wednesday, July 25th, 2012

Summer brings big WET raindrops on rusty cars…IF you’re a photographer’s kid, that is.  :)  Raindrops are a pretty welcome sight (smell and feel) in Texas these days!

UPDATE on me…

Our summer has been most fabulous.  Busy traveling and then busy swimming and wrapped up in smoothie making and playing at home.  We’re having a BLAST!

I’m in the process of editing a HUGE session (3 days worth of lovely creative portraits) from a trip to the drop-dead gorgeous state of Tennessee  earlier this month with a beauuuuutiful family.  I am forever changed by their love + the beauty of the Smokey Mountains.  Should be done this week with that, so be ready!

I have some more fun projects up my sleeve, my little lady’s birthday, and have several sessions and a WEDDING in the next two weeks…this gal is EXCITED.  I don’t typically shoot weddings, but am excited about this fun-filled opportunity with a stunning, smiling, sweet & happy couple and their families.

BELIEVE IT OR NOT…. I’m gearing up for upcoming holiday sessions!  IF you’d love holiday portraits this year, make sure to be on the lookout at the beginning of August (yipes…that’s next week) for some dates and details.  Sessions were totally booked (and then some) last year and I’d love to see past clients and new ones, too.  AND get this…our tickets are already purchased for going to Phoenix in October!   If you want to be on the first- to -know list for DFW or Phoenix sessions, please send a quick little email or Facebook message to me with your name and email addy and you’ll be notified BEFORE details are posted online.  How’s that for being on top of things?

Have one super day and hope YOU are having a beautiful summer!

{Her Perfect Little Lips} | Dallas Family Photography | Maggie McDonald Photography

Monday, January 9th, 2012

Wow…it’s been a while!  I’ve been crazy busy (just not the best at blogging) with all the editing, holiday card designing, and family festivities going on.  SO sorry!  :)

I have so many images to share from lovely sessions that took place from October through January with happy families from Phoenix and Dallas — definitely the busy season!   It was incredibly exciting to see past clients and meet many new ones.  I’m always honored to be chosen to photograph loved ones and recommended by past clients, too.  Thank YOU so much for your support!             …and now onto some portraits….

I’d love to share this little lady!   I met her when she was 15 days old and she was the perfect little sleeper.   We even got some smiles.  :)

We started the session with a bottle (for a full tummy, of course!), a little laughter with big sis, and family cuddling…

Then we moved on to cute baby poses.

She tried to stay awake and look adorable…

…but quickly fell asleep looking just perfect.

Big sis checked in on her several times while her parents relaxed — it was so cute!

Before some family portraits, we captured mom and dad with their newest addition.  Definitely one of my faves!

SO many more lovely portraits from this session.  K and K — your gallery should be ready in no time.

Hope you have one terrific day!

Taking it all in… | Southlake Family Photography | DFW Holiday Mini Sessions

Monday, September 19th, 2011

My two were walking along a log in Yosemite National Park, taking it all in. Peach grabbed a branch and checked out the leaves, while the little man was watching carefully where to step. This picture takes me back to a time when I truly felt FREE and disconnected, as did they. We hiked, splashed in water, camped (?! — well, sort of), and were just allowed to breathe. We’ll be heading back there sooner than later…or maybe do a National Park tour (Glacier or Denali, perhaps?)and hit up a gorgeous spot every year. That’s on my bucket list. What’s something on yours?

We’ve been busy bees lately.  Soccer, cheerleading, Drama Club, Tae Kwan Do…Yearbook Club starting soon.  This time of year makes me smile as the leaves change and the breezes get cooler, but I also have to remember to take some deep breaths in preparation for…(dun dun dunnn)…the BUSY SEASON.

I’ll be headed out to Phoenix soon for a packed schedule of beautiful people to photograph.  Some clients I’ve seen before (can’t WAIT to see how much all the kiddos have grown!) and some very new families (can’t WAIT for those either).  Before Phoenix, I’m heading to Florida to meet my twinsie niece and nephew and to help my sister-in-law…a new mama, who is super excited for some extra hands around there.  AND my little guy’s birthday is approaching, too.

Oh man…a packed October, an ultra busy November…and then Christmas is here.  :)   Are you ready for the next couple months to whizz by?!

If you’re considering holiday portraits (these puppies come with stunning cards that you don’t have to worry about–that’s MY job!) contact me ASAP (dates on there are all full, so let’s chat!). Seriously, only a couple November weekday spots left.

Hope you have a lovely day! I’m off to finish up client holiday card examples (coming SOON) so I can cross another thing off my growing “to do” list…

*2011 Holiday Mini Sessions* | Maggie McDonald Photography | DFW Phoenix Photographer

Thursday, August 4th, 2011

Holiday Sessions??!!!  I realize it seems WAAAAY too hot to think about the holidays, but the end of September will be here in a flash, then we’ll all be busy with trick-or-treating…Thanksgiving…and then Christmas!  You’ll be SO glad you scheduled a session and designed your fabulous cards ahead of time!  :)

Check it….  ;)

Included with each session are the items clients *love the most* for the holidays:

  • Gift Prints (your choice of an 8×10, 5×7, 4×6 portrait or 8 wallets)
  • Three web-sized, Facebook files (with a small logo) for sharing online

AND

  • Custom holiday cards created for you with your stunning portraits OR 4×6 prints to include in your own cards OR a high-resolution digital file for those that would like to create a card on their own (top two packages).
Add-ons to packages are quite a deal, too (portraits, disc of images, canvas), so send me an email and I’ll fill you in!

And…2011 holiday card choices are currently being designed/purchased.  They will be displayed on the blog in late August/early September.   I always LOVE to give clients variety and can’t wait for you to see this year’s cards!  Gorgeous.

If you’ve decided you’d like to reserve a mini session, please email me at maggiejmcd@msn.com and I’ll send you a link to the holiday session booking form. Payment is due at the time of booking (I’ll send a PayPal invoice) to hold your spot.   Last year there was a wait list, so don’t wait too long!

Hope you have a lovely day — I’m excited about the prospect of working with so many gorgeous families again this year and sure hope yours is on the list.  :)

My best,

Maggie

my OTHER two almost-kiddos | dallas / fort worth portrait photographer | holiday mini sessions

It’s always SO much fun to see these two. I love it because they make my kiddos grin from ear to ear, whether it’s conversations on the telephone from Texas to Arizona, or they are playing in person. Our kiddos pretty much grew up together, so every year (and hopefully more often than that) we get the gang together to create some sort of ruckus. ;)

This image above really GETS me! It’s how I see them most of the time…

And these portraits just show how beautiful and handsome they really are.

This series is just SO cute. It was T’s idea to sit on this tree and I think it was the absolute *perfect* spot!

SOOOoooo many more to go through and edit. I LOVE love L.O.V.E the adorable outfits their momma chose. The bold pink/orange combo looks AMAZING with the blue plaid amongst all the greenery. Some good ol’ color pop in nature just makes me sing and dance!

Thank you, J, for trusting ME to capture your two adorable pumpkins. I loved everything about this session…all the way down to the hula hooping at the end. ;)

I hope you have one lovely day!

It’s so awesome that they can 100% be themselves with a camera nearby! Guess it helps that I’ve been photographing them for years….sheesh…I just said YEARS!
LOVE the orange, pink and blue mix of clothing here, too. The colors just pop enough to give their portraits some oomph! Plaids, flowers, and solids have all been put together flawlessly. LOVELY job, C!

Hope you have one super day.

The B siblings will grace the blog manana! Yesss! Thx for stopping by…

{do this for them} | Dallas / Fort Worth Child Photographer

Tuesday, October 26th, 2010

I kept going back and forth about which images to post from this session…should I post the one with dad throwing the littlest lady up into the air, where you see her little belly-button and toothless grin, the portrait of the family by the colorful barn, where they’re all staggered and the middle sis looks sneaky-suspicious (a look I ADORE), the pic of the big brother that makes him look like a total tousled-hair 5-year-old Abercrombie model, the portrait of the family as themselves…looking at each other and loving through their eyes and arms, OR this portrait. It’s so simple.

Tonight I can only post this.

IMG_5537mWEB

It’s a stand-alone image to me.

A portrait that any mom truly wants, BUT the most important thing is that this momma did this for her daughter. Her little “N” is going to look back someday and absolutely cherish this image and just know how much her momma loved her that very moment. I mean, LOOK at this mom’s love! (I just can’t get over it…)

While we, as parents, sometimes struggle with fitting in portrait sessions (the time, the money, the clothing, the image we want to present, etc), it’s important to just do it. For the kids. For our kids!

I’m realizing how truly precious life is as we approach the one-year anniversary of my father-in-law’s death. What I wouldn’t do for more pictures of my children with HIS grin and loving arms wrapped around them.

I promise you’ll see more of this fun bunch tomorrow…

a flower makes a happy girl | dallas / fort worth photography | holiday mini sessions

As soon as little C found this flower there were smiley talks of surprising mom with it. After she fully studied it, of course!
***I love how flowers can break the ice and brighten up a day!***

CHweb3

I could photograph this sweetie everrrrry day. :)

Dad was so willing to be photographed with his little lady, so I went to town on images that captured their closeness. LOVE these.

More of the whole fam to come at a later date…. ;)

J…I’m so glad I was finally able to capture your beautiful family — we’ve waited a long time for this. Can’t WAIT to show you your images (coming soon).

More Phoenix family portraits coming tomorrow…and the next day….and the next! :) Gotta love it!
Thanks for stopping by…
