Cutest “We’re Having a Baby” Announcement EVER! | DFW Family Photographer

Friday, January 4th, 2013

The grand plan was to design holiday cards for this terrific family from their earlier 2012 session, but when the mom let me know a big secret (they were expecting!), we did both!  This was a HUGE secret — nobody was to know until the big reveal (the announcements in the mail!), even the kiddos.  How’d we pull this off??!!  Well, let me tell ya…

First, mom found an adorable idea on Pinterest (this card/session is based off that!).

Second, we assembled the participants – Mom, two ADORABLE kiddos, me, and a blank vintage chalkboard…some colorful & delicious lollis at the end always help, too!  ;)

(here the kiddos are before we REALLY got started…)

Third, we got all crazy cute and funny — the whole session took us about 8 minutes (yay us!!!).    I asked the kids to do various silly things and they were just perfect.  We did a whole lot of laughing (see below)…

The mom and I met several days afterwards to decide on the perfect pictures for the text…didn’t take us long at all.  I digitally placed the text, we found a card to compliment their cute little outfits, and we were finished.

Here’s their gorgeous announcement…

(names blurred out, of course, for their privacy!)

Mom and I were practically on the floor laughing as soon as this happened…

Still makes me laugh out loud every time I see this picture.  :)    A HUGE congrats to the fun, spunky, & oh-so-cool D family…can’t wait to meet the new baby in June!!!

And…Happy New Year!!!

The Center of their World! | Colleyville Southlake Grapevine Photographer

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

I met this super fun family bright and early Sunday morning.  The light was soft and golden — just the way I like it — and the weather JUST perfect!  We planned this session around both sets of grandparents being in town for some extended family pics, too.

Although extended family portraits are sometimes hard to coordinate, they are SO so worth it.  LOVE the love pouring from their faces.  :)

SO handsome and sweet.  I have lots of smiley ones, but this one really stuck out to me as being extra special.  :)

Loved the “real” interaction with mom and dad.  :)

And we’ll end with this.  Love him throwing his head back in laughter.  His two front teeth coming in remind ME of first grade…what a fun shot.

AND so, so many incredible shots that I didn’t want to reveal in case they’re going to use them for holiday cards. . . wouldn’t want to spoil it!

Thank you SO very much P Family (and extended family) for trusting me to capture your time together. I’m truly honored and hope you’ll cherish these for a long time!  Gallery coming sooooon!  Yay.

Hope you have a lovely rest of your day.

Taking it all in… | Southlake Family Photography | DFW Holiday Mini Sessions

Monday, September 19th, 2011

My two were walking along a log in Yosemite National Park, taking it all in. Peach grabbed a branch and checked out the leaves, while the little man was watching carefully where to step. This picture takes me back to a time when I truly felt FREE and disconnected, as did they. We hiked, splashed in water, camped (?! — well, sort of), and were just allowed to breathe. We’ll be heading back there sooner than later…or maybe do a National Park tour (Glacier or Denali, perhaps?)and hit up a gorgeous spot every year. That’s on my bucket list. What’s something on yours?

We’ve been busy bees lately.  Soccer, cheerleading, Drama Club, Tae Kwan Do…Yearbook Club starting soon.  This time of year makes me smile as the leaves change and the breezes get cooler, but I also have to remember to take some deep breaths in preparation for…(dun dun dunnn)…the BUSY SEASON.

I’ll be headed out to Phoenix soon for a packed schedule of beautiful people to photograph.  Some clients I’ve seen before (can’t WAIT to see how much all the kiddos have grown!) and some very new families (can’t WAIT for those either).  Before Phoenix, I’m heading to Florida to meet my twinsie niece and nephew and to help my sister-in-law…a new mama, who is super excited for some extra hands around there.  AND my little guy’s birthday is approaching, too.

Oh man…a packed October, an ultra busy November…and then Christmas is here.  :)   Are you ready for the next couple months to whizz by?!

If you’re considering holiday portraits (these puppies come with stunning cards that you don’t have to worry about–that’s MY job!) contact me ASAP (dates on there are all full, so let’s chat!). Seriously, only a couple November weekday spots left.

Hope you have a lovely day! I’m off to finish up client holiday card examples (coming SOON) so I can cross another thing off my growing “to do” list…

a yearly thing! | dallas / fort worth family photography (on the road in Phoenix!)

Saturday, October 23rd, 2010

I LOVE seeing clients year after year — it’s great to have a quick catch up with the parents as we walk and photograph, but it’s always shockingly fun to see the little faces that have grown over the last year. Milk, Spaghettios, chicken nuggets and mac and cheese do that to a kid, ya know. :)

IMG_3882W
And I just have to add…I love how colorful their clothes are! They really pop in all that greenery…clothing and accessories can really MAKE a session. :)

gabell1

Ahhh…LOVE this candid mom and daughter moment, coupled with the most *perfect* golden light. :)

I photographed this little lady when she was two weeks old and it brings me great joy to watch little A and her big brother grow up! They’re SO cute and ultra sweet. It was hard for me to get even an alone shot of the little lady because her brother was always right by her side. They have such a cute relationship.

IMG_4116biW

And a fav. Just looks peaceful, doesn’t it? :)
SO many fun choices for holiday cards this year — can’t wait to see what they come up with!

Hope you have one wonderful weekend. We just had a mega downpour in TX, so the whole fam is outside diverting dirty water so it doesn’t land in our pool while I blog (yay!). Off to a bday party, Fall Festival, AND spooky Halloween walk this eve. Hope things clear up for these excited kids.
~mm

Next up…the J family for a Sunday sneak peek. Then some of the S fam for Monday! Only FIVE more after that (YIPES) and more sessions to photograph soon…so keep your eyes peeled for more fab and fresh families to hit the bloggity. I appreciate your support!!!!!

Oh, the Phoenix Palm Trees | Holiday Mini Sessions | Dallas Family Photographer (on the road!)

Monday, October 18th, 2010

Oh it was awesome to be back to the warmth and loveliness of Phoenix. It was not too hot and there was SO MUCH love in the air surrounded by our family and friends. Watching my kiddos wrap their arms around their grandparents and play with their lifelong friends is always priceless. Our visit to Sedona just topped off the visit, too. Incredibly breathtaking & peaceful — just what we all needed!

SO, l (Lucky ME!) had sessions with 10 incredible families in two days (gulp…YES!) and although it was a whirlwind, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The first family was adventurous, loving, & knew JUST what to do. These siblings loved each other so very much and it was awesome to be able to capture their squeezy hugs and smiles. :)

I loved that Dad wanted to get his truck in a shot or two…

So many more super images from our time together…this is merely a tease for a very patient mom!
:::Tomorrow, some images from the W Family:::
I’ll be posting every day for quite some time until everyone has a sneak peek! I’ve been editing like crazy cakes, so if you’ve been photographed by me recently, be on the lookout for some information regarding the 2010 Holiday Card line (it’s awesome to browse!) AND your gallery links.

Hope you have one lovely day!

I know, I know … | Dallas Holiday Family & Child Photography | Southlake Mini Sessions

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

kdday2{2nd day of school for Peach, 1st day for Fella}

Even though I haven’t blogged in a while (SORRY!!!), I’ve been plenty busy adjusting to so many things…

What have we been up to, you ask?

  • Well, school started and although I’ve been loving the schedule, the kiddos are having a hard time adjusting to the early rising.   Much, much earlier bedtimes (for them, obviously not me, since I’m typing this at 2am) around here.    We had a last minute preschool switch-a-roo for my son (and for those that know me, know that I research and research and visit and research schools for the right fit, so changing something like that with zero time to do so just about put me over the edge.  It all ended up for the better — my little guy actually screams “yaaaaaay” when it’s time for school this year.  Something we’re not used to.  It makes my heart happy.

KClass1st{Peachers — Day 1}

  • And along with school starting comes….SOCCER starting!

ksoccer1

  • I’ve been getting lovelies ready for my sister’s wedding : printing/sorting through images, designing the program, coordinating outfits for the adorable flower girl and handsome ring bearer, getting some fun things for bachelorette party, AND so much more…   It’s gonna be one INCREDI-party/smoochfest.
  • I’ve been assembling holiday cards and assigning locations and times to all of the LOVELY clients I will photograph this holiday season.  If you’d like to book a holiday session for Dallas, there are some spots still available….email me at maggiejmcd (@ ) msn.com for the deets.  If you are a Phoenix client or inquiring about holiday sessions there (October), mini sessions are now full.  I am HAPPY to put your name on a wait list just in case though!

Here’s an example of a fun card offered this season:

{front}  (obviously my enormo lollipop logo won’t be on the front!)

What a fun, stunning family!  :)

  • Kiddos and I have been on the hunt for some crazy supa-COOL photo locations.  We obviously found some…swooooon!   All that driving is totally worth it!!!

Untitled-1frm

IMG_5556m-copyWell, I need some sleep.  Another very full day tomorrow!

The next week is going to be full of wedding prep, hanging with family AND a couple incredible California sessions.  I…CAN’T…WAIT!   Hopefully I’ll be able to pop in and give you a little teaser.

Have a lovely day!
