Holiday Mini Sessions | Dallas / Fort Worth Family Photography | Maggie McDonald Photography

Saturday, August 14th, 2010

Great news… long last, dates and collections are here for the 2010 Holiday Mini Sessions!

So, here are the details…

Included with each session are the items clients *love the most* for the holidays:

  • Gift Prints (your choice of an 8×10, 5×7, 4×6 portrait or 8 wallets)
  • Three web-sized, watermarked files for sharing online (*new from last year*)

  • A holiday card option (custom holiday cards created FOR and with you including envelopes, 4×6 prints to include in your own cards, OR a high-resolution digital file for those that would like to create a card on their own.

I know it seems early, but the end of September will be here in a flash, then we’ll all be busy with trick-or-treating…Thanksgiving…and then Christmas!  You’ll be SO glad you got this done ahead of time.  :)

And…2010 holiday card choices have been designed/purchased and are being finalized with images from sessions throughout the year — they will be displayed on the blog in the next two weeks.   I always LOVE to give clients variety and can’t wait for you to see this year’s cards!  Gorgeous.

If you’ve decided you’d like to reserve a mini session, please email me at and I’ll send you a link to the holiday session booking form. Payment is due at the time of booking (I’ll send a PayPal invoice) to hold your spot.

There are a limited number of spots available, so book now before it’s too late — last year there was a wait list!

Hope you have a lovely day — I’m excited about the prospect of working with so many gorgeous couples, kiddos and families again this year and sure hope you (and yours) are on the list.  :)    ~mm

{Little Lady in Black and White} | Southlake Family Portrait Photography

Friday, July 9th, 2010

Just a couple more fun portraits from this lovely family session.  I just LOVE making storyboards, a collection of images that tell a story of our time together.  They’re typically mounted on styrene, a 2mm thick solid board that makes it easy to display on an easel or frame!  Clients go ga-ga for these and I don’t blame them (my house is peppered with these, too)!  Plus, it’s a great way to get several of your favorite portraits in one spot!

I chose to do the first storyboard in black and white because I think this little lady just has this look that is so dramatic and perfect with this type of conversion.   Every single black and white of her is just stunning — I can’t get enough!  The next storyboard has a vintage edit (usually my fav!) — a little brighter and more yellow than my typical color pop.  LOVE!

Okay, off to bed. Have an AWESOME shoot tomorrow AND on Sunday. Busy, busy! And In the next week or two, I will be releasing some holiday session dates to current clients! Stay tuned or send me a quick email if you’d like to be on the first-to-know list.

Have a great one! ~mm

{Fabulously Modern Products} | Maggie McDonald Photography

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

I’ve been meaning to post these for a while. I LOVE creating custom goodies for clients and spend a great deal of time researching quality, appealing, stylin’ products for clients. I definitely wouldn’t sell or create anything I wouldn’t want in my home.

So what do we have here, you ask???

3×3 Brag Album (or otherwise known as a Purse Album for the ladies!)

This little stunner is 3×3 and has 10 openings for your favorite portraits. The album folds out accordion-style (with images on the front and back) and when you’re finished, it folds right up and the magnetic front and back close together immediately. There are various ways to personalize your album with colors, styles and personal quotes that suit you! One more perk is that THREE albums come in an order. They make great gifts for friends and family and display quite nicely.

IMG_2947web LOVE this!!!

Next is the 4×6 Proof Book
I LOVE this little number. If you want to remember your entire session and not have to lift a finger, grab up one of these cuties. The front and back of the book are custom-created and durable! The front and back covers are mounted on a hard surface, while the interior of the spiral-bound book contains bordered portraits printed on photographic paper.

And just in case you’re wondering, vertical and horizontal images look equally fabulous in this book! I have a *snow book* for my family and we change the page daily. It’s always fun for us in the morning to view the next image. Oh, and my logo is not displayed on each page — that was strictly for blogging purposes.

Hope these two products give you an idea of the product possibilities! I’m always looking for the latest and greatest, so please let me know if you’d like something that I don’t carry…I probably do or am on a waiting list waiting for it! ;)

Have a lovely day!

Picture Perfect Pinboard | Maggie McDonald Photography | Dallas/Fort Worth

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

Oh…isn’t THIS cute!!!???

I spend some time (actually, WAY too much time) looking for fun photography props, eclectic items to decorate my office, and, of course, things to purchase for my kiddos. I thought this “Perfect Picture Pinboard” from Pottery Barn Teen was just too cute! It would look awesome in the right girly room, wouldn’t it?

I’m considering the purchase for my office — it would be an awesome place to put inspirational photos from magazines — but I think that some fun digi photo frames might win out in the battle for the $80!

I love the colors & doodled frames (I’m a big fan of the whimsical look) and it’s on canvas!!!

Off to spend a little more time shopping online…

Have a lovely weekend!

your art/your home

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

I love working with clients to come up with a way to display their images that works the best for them. When one of my most recent clients said that she wanted several gallery wrapped canvas on her walls, we took it to the next level and I was able to show her what that looked like.

After talking about the process in person at her viewing appointment, she created a list of her absolute favorites in her ordering cart (I love this feature!) and then I took her top choices and made wall gallery samples for her! In 24 hours, I put together various combinations of her top images into her online gallery. This happens to be the one she selected…

{shown here are 36×24 and 16×24 gallery wrapped canvas of her beautiful children}

Ultimately, she decided on ordering two of the more artsy, unposed images for her living room. These images will never need replacing, yet will show her children at this time in their lives. They will be definite conversation pieces!!!

Selecting images, how to display them, what sizes to get, etc. can seem a little overwhelming. I feel very grateful that clients trust my opinion when it comes to decorating their homes with the thing they love the most — their family. That’s what I’m here for. :)

I seriously can’t WAIT to see these up on her walls!

Have a super day. ~m

smiles for M :)

Friday, September 26th, 2008

***Special request for some smiley pics from M while she’s waiting to see her whole gallery.***

She’s too cute and bubbly!  I told her that although her smile is flippin’ LOVELY, sometimes I find myself drawn to her images that are more serious because her eyes are absolutely stunning and show SO much emotion.  Check these eyes out!

Okay, there’s a LITTLE smile in the above photo!  :)   I love the *hint* of one.

I think my smiley fave of her happens to be the very first pic on the left side in the storyboard up top.  LOVE what she’s doing with her hands…and as Tyra Banks would say (hah!) she’s definitely “Smiling with her eyes.”

And a couple more randoms from our super fun session.  LOVED her timeless dress!

M — your gallery and slideshow will be ready for viewing tomorrow!

Have a fantastic day!   ~m

Holiday Minis!

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

At long last, info for the super fun holiday minis is here!  I can’t wait to start taking holiday pics, designing cards, AND help you in creating lasting images of your family!  Photos are awesome gifts, too!  :)

I know it’s incredibly hard to think about the holidays right now when it’s 111 degrees here in Phoenix, BUT there are only 18 more weekends until Christmas — that makes me shake in my boots!!!

Why are we scheduling holiday shoots now???  Not only do I need to shoot and edit sessions (a 2 week process) but it takes a bit (2+ weeks) to order/receive cards and images, too.  I’m sure my photo lab is going to be feeling the pressure because holiday cards are the IN THING right now!  And BOY do I have some incredible cards for you (a weakness of mine–options will be posted throughout the week!).  :)

Here’s the info you’ve been waiting for…  (OH, and read allllll the way down for a super offer for 1 lucky fam!)

There are only a LIMITED NUMBER OF SESSIONS available throughout the next 3 months (whether you choose a mini session or a full session), so if you’re interested, make sure to send me an email and sign up before they’re gone! Speaking of gone, once the minis are booked in September the month is full!  :)   I try my best to keep the “Availability” portion of this blog (look up top) current if you have a date in mind.

A little more info on the minis…

  • payment, in full, must be received within one week in order to hold your date and time
  • sessions prices are up to 4 people ($25 extra per person)
  • $50 mini session print credit may only be used toward gift and wall prints
  • additional holiday cards, prints, and digital negatives may be purchased
  • all final print orders must be made by 11/28 to receive prints before Christmas

If you choose to have a regular session (more time + images than a mini), it needs to take place by 11/9 to receive holiday items (gift prints, cards, etc).   Session prices are located on my website under “investments.”

Oh, and if you’re doing a mini, since these sessions are so short, in your email to me with your preferred time(s) and date(s), please choose whether the session is a family session (only images of the family are taken — no individual shots of family members) or a child session (focus is on up to two children and sibling groups).  The goal is for you to have an incredible image (or two or three or…) for your holiday cards, as well as amazing images for your walls (+ gifts for friends and family).

AND if you made it this far (thank you, thank you!!!) I have two offers:

1) if you or your family have been photographed within the last 6 months by moi, you may purchase holiday cards with a favorite image from your session for $8 off a set (that means 24 gorgeous press-printed 5×7 flat cards for $42).  how cool is that!?

2) And the best part….SEEKING one adventurous, spirited family to do a mini session trial run on Sunday, August 31.  The first fam that I get an email from will get 50% off the session + all the other perks that come with the mini (it’ll cost ya $100 for all that!).  Doesn’t matter who you are or if you’ve ever had a session with me…friends/fam are just fine, too!

Okay, I think I’ve covered just about everything.  Thanks for your interest!  My email is if you’d like to reserve your session!  I will do my best to get back to your emails promptly and keep the availability page updated.  Have a GREAT Friday!  :)

My best,
