On the Go!

Monday, April 21st, 2008

I had a great time with the J family this afternoon.  It was toddler exploring at its best (and fastest) as we followed around little T.  She was energetic, sweet, and even a bit cautious.

She’s right at that stage where she wants to break free (and does!), but still needs mom and dad around.   I forgot how quick little (almost) two-year-olds can be!  I need to gear myself up for my little guy…

Anyway, T’s parents wanted some pictures taken of her to celebrate her second birthday in a couple weeks and am so glad we did this.  We snuck some shots in of the fam and her stunning little sis, too.

[Okay, can I just tell you how much I LOVE the above pic?  First, dad and daughter...too cute.  Second, before this little action happened, dad would say, "T...Head butt?" and she'd coming running over to her daddy and they'd do an ever-so-gentle head bump together.  It was priceless!!!]

^ 7-month-old sister…she is just SOOOOO cute! and just loved smiling for me!

Thanks so much, J and P, for a fun afternoon!  I’m glad we waited around for that golden light — it was definitely worth it!  You two are amazing parents (to two very adorable kiddos).  See you soon.   ~m

Meet Goldilocks (& her cute fam)

I had THE BEST time this afternoon/evening with the S family.  They were so fun & full of life.

I just knew this would be an incredible session when mom asked what I thought about her bringing ladybugs so the kiddos could play with the fun little creatures.  I gasped, gulped (trying to contain my excitement) and said, “Yessss!”  What an awesome idea!  I love that she thought out of the box.  She wanted to bring something for her daughter and son that would be fun, fresh, exciting, different, and picture-worthy.  LOVED it.

^ Love how you can see the sun and the rest of the family hanging out in the background.  :)

Oh and the kids.  Perfect creamy skin.  Sweet, smiley, adventurous…  The fam even got up into a tree at one point.  I loved that, too.  :)

^ He did this with his hand in the middle of some pics.  How adorable!

^ One last image I couldn’t resist posting for now!  Aren’t the ducks swimming by at the perfect time?  And that baby duck is sooooo cute and tiny!

Ladybug and tree climbing images later on in the week.  ~m

I will be a good blogger.  I will be a good blogger…  :)

Crazy last couple days.  I received an email and a couple phone calls asking if I was okay.  Too funny (I LOVE it) because I missed a day of blogging.  Yes, I’m alive.  I always try my dardest to blog.  If I do skip a day in the midst of the next two weeks, know I’m okay!

Coming up this weekend, is the Secret Photography Workshop, which I’m thrilled about.  Two amazing photographers (and women) from Seattle, whom I met at a Me Ra Koh workshop last October, are flying to Phoenix to attend with me.  I’m going to have photography on the brain 24/7 and learn so much about business, my style, editing, being a photographer and a mom at the same time…all that good stuff.  I hope to leave a better photographer in so many aspects (and know I will).

The following week, hubs and I are OFF TO FLORIDA (wahoo!) for a kidlet-free trip!  We used to live in Jacksonville, so we’ll spend some time with friends, eat at some of our old fav. joints (don’t ya just love that?) relax on the beach…  I have six amazing photo sessions scheduled–hubby is into shooting skeet competitively, so he’ll be whoopin’ it up with his skeet pals out there.  It’s fun that we can both do our own thing and then meet up after a fun day.  Can’t wait!

Yes, I’ll be blogging from FL.  I’ve got to show the families out there some sneak peaks!!!  Plus, couldn’t leave you all hanging.

If, however, I DO skip a day in the next couple weeks, know that I’m just EXTRA busy and daily blogging will resume after our trip!

Had an INCREDIBLE family session this evening.  Can’t wait to start going through the images.  Check bright and early for some sneak peeks!!!   ~m

Isn’t she cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute?

My sweet pal Lhad her baby Saturday.  Yup, you’re right, that makes little J above, only 4 days!  She was the tiniest (and youngest, besides my own) baby I’ve ever photographed.  She cooperated so well despite some clothing changes & a semi-breezy porch session.  She especially loved the soft little swaddler we had (more on that soon).

^ I just luh-huh-LOVE this.  Look how big dad’s hands are, not only to the baby’s head, BUT to the baby’s own hand right there beside his.  :)   Awwww!

Haven’t decided what I’m going to blog yet tomorrow.  Waddayasay?  More baby or more family/maternity?

NIght.

=Soft=  the word that comes to mind when I think about the adorable 8 day old baby girl I photographed today.

I touched her little body to move an arm a bit and…unbelievably soft.

It was such a pleasure to see A again and now she, her hubby, and their cuter-than-cute son, have a perfect little bundle of girl!

You’ll be seeing more images of this cutie later on in the week.  It’s baby season!  :)    ~m

^Sooooo touching.

^ Soooo in love.

^ Soooo comfortable.  [It's all in the body language]

I’ve been meaning to blog this fam for quite some time!  I know I say this a TON, but maternity shoots are SOOO much fun.  C wrote me an email after the photo shoot and said she loved how this shoot really helped her enjoy her pregnancy (it’s been a difficult one).  What a compliment.  {mwah!}

I had an awesome time capturing the adorable interaction & love in the air.  I am soooo happy to have met you guys.  :)   ~m

biker kidz

Monday, April 14th, 2008

I need to remember to take pics of my kiddos more often.  Do you???  They’re not crazy about it, but it’s great practice and those moments captured are priceless.

The other day during Peach’s quiet time, she chose to look through these little 8×8 scrapbooks (digital pages that I got printed) from last year.  It was SOOOO cute — we chatted about lots of activities in those books.

Sooo…today…another fun hour at the water table.  We had the bikes on the front patio from a walk the previous day and the kidos gravitated from splashing and pouring, to zooming down the driveway (well Peach at least!).

My Guy has been showing me an awful lot of this scowl lately.  That’s his mad face, but as you can see, I can’t take it too seriously.

Had fun with some textures!  :)

—Random stuff below—

–>Lovies to the cheering section peeps at my concert tonight.  :)    Funny…one of my choir pals met one of my friends and she said she recognized her from my website.  She felt like a ROCKstar!  :)   hah.

–>Any blog readers have tips for cat sessions???  I have a couple coming up and would loooove some advice.

–>April sessions are completely full.  It’s going to be a crazy rest of the month (in a good way)!  I’m busy with newborn and family shoots, processing images & packaging images!  I’m headed to a fantabulous workshop at the end of the month and will have lots of new tricks up my sleeve for May sessions!  Yeah!  Book now to get the last outside sessions before fall AND to get current prices.

Can’t wait to meet YOU!  ~m

two bundles

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

I got, not one, but TWO phone calls today about new babies that were born this week.  I am just THRILLED for these incredible moms (both of whom had prego photo shoots with me).  They both were gushing about their beautiful daughters and I can’t wait to see those teeny tiny toes soon.  This is such an exciting time in a family’s life–I get teary-eyed just thinking about it.

Made me think back to my babies…that aren’t so much babies anymore.  Dug deep in the archives and found these…

Both of my peanuts, looking alike, at a couple days old.

Have a great day!  ~m
