double the CUTE

Meet B.

And B.

10-week-old twin brothers!

They looked around.  They hung out.

They watched their brother a bit (is he cute or what!!!???!!).

These fellas loved being held and wanted nothing to do with sleeping our way (naked on blankies)!  Guess we can’t expect much from little guys who are over that newborn hump.  It’s their job to be observant little cuties now!

Have a great day.  ~m

summer cozy

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

:::News flash:::  Found the perfect summer dress for my kiddo!!! Peach has been wearing a dress-a-day ever since these comfy hand-sewn creations arrived in the mail a couple weeks ago.

What do I like best about these cute little numbers???

  • cute/trendy
  • kid approved (that’s hard these days!)
  • every single one is different (and handmade!!!)
  • fabric is from recycled and new adult t-shirts (eco-friendly, baby!!!)
  • Peach can PLAY in them!  She’s at that age where she likes only comfortable clothes and clothes she can have fun in, so these are just PERFECT right now.  :)

You can find these here (Cool Mom Pics article) and here (courtneycourtney etsy store).

For those of you that haven’t done much etsy shopping (or even browsing) you’re SO missing out.  It’s amazing…amazingly addictive, yet f-u-n!!!

Stay tuned for even MORE of these adorable dresses next week (at the playground!)  :)

Have a great, COMFY, rest of your weekend!  :)    ~m

corn fields::my style

Saturday, July 19th, 2008

I had a chat with a photographer pal today.  We talked about the corn field images from yesterday and our discussion rolled into post-processing.  We both decided that, while fun and appropriate, the more vintage-y look from yesterday wasn’t really “me.”  Don’t get me wrong…I love that vintage look and trying new things…but while I was editing some more this evening, I decided to edit these “my style.”  More color pop.  :)   I DO like both.

At 7pm, the sun was STILL pretty harsh behind the kiddos, so I like what the vintage action did with softening.  It did take away the clarity that I usually go for, however, so I didn’t so much like that part.  DO you have a preference???  :)   They’re really two VERY different looks.

^  SO them.  Having a discussion about nature.  :) I love the candid feel of these images.  Just the kiddos havin’ fun + Peach being a little bossy.  :)

HEY…thanks for stopping by!  ~m

Told ya we had fun!

I’ve been drooling over the area cornfields and finally broke down and took my kiddos there.  I’ll do most anything for an amazing photo shoot!!!  :) <–that’s where the crazy weather comes in (113 degrees when we were finishing up).  We were all beet red and super sweaty at the end of this one!!!  Luckily it didn’t take us too long and the kiddos cooled of with a refreshing McDonald’s ice cream code afterwards.

***Back to the session***

The cuties had a BLAST checking out various bugs, throwing dirt clods, and just being themselves.

I processed with a more vintagey feel because I wanted the images to feel timeless.

***Have a super day and thanks for stopping by!***

tunnel…oooooh…

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

^ Peach starting to scream after we entered the tunnel.

{I love that she’s lit just enough so you can see her expression (and know she’s in a tunnel!) but she glows from the light behind her.}

^ Fella is just NOT too sure about this!  ALMOST out…

Ahhh….love this one.  No cheeseball smiles…we get the real ones (I won’t tell you what I was doing for those!!!).

I’ve been playing around with a new(ish) lens…my 50mm 1.4.  Shooting “wide open” is producing some fun images, but it’s HARD!!!  Lots of room for error.   :)  I love playing around with depth of field, especially in an image like the one above, where Fella is in focus and everything in front and behind him isn’t.  It really allows for creativity, which is pretty much WHY I do this!!!  With a couple switches in manual mode, this image could look totally different.    :)   ~m

Oh…and did an actual “planned” photo shoot in 110 degree weather today (and that was 6pm!!!) with the kiddos.  Don’t worry, we had plenty of water (and FUN!).  Get ready for some COOLIO images tomorrow from our shoot…it’s different all right…vintage-inspired with lots of green and brown!!!!!  Hmmm…any guesses?

Collage CITY!

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

“Be Present” is the mantra that gets J through the tough parts of her races…she even has an awesome custom made necklace that keeps her going.  :)   Can you find it in the above collage???

When we initially spoke on the telephone, J mentioned wanting a collage of images.  She had some awesome ideas so we could get a lot of variety.  Here are some of her collage choices in collage/storyboard format:

^ FORGOT to mention that the first collage/storyboard can be created anywhere from a 10×10, 12×12, 20×20, to 30×30.  FUN, huh!??!!  There are just SO many possibilities.

^ 10×20 Storyboard with 5 vertical images

Of course, I have more collages for her that aren’t so busy, but our goal was to get all of her meaningful items into one storyboard.

^ 16×20 storyboard with up to 8 images (obviously not with this template though!)  :)

WHAT an incredible athlete.  I had ***SOOO*** much fun with you, J!   ~m

OH, and I KNOW I said I’d post more train pics, BUT I got caught up in storyboarding SO I thought I’d share.  :)

AND ONE more thing.   I’m SOOOO excited about doing a 16 square baby parts collage with the template used in the first example!  That’ll look SOOOOO super!  If you have a baby session coming up, this is one FUN and exciting option for you!

Can’t ya just HEAR him saying that???  (giving the conductor his ticket!!!)

Our little Fella has a major train obsession.  It’s adorable.  He loves to put tracks together and run his trains along…talking about their various colors and names (mostly the “Thomas” variety).  I’ve been meaning to take him to the McCormick Train Park, but since it’s been SOOO darn hot out, I thought we’d wait…WELL…the weather was overcast and coolER today (unfortonately humid due to the recent storms though).

I SWEAR they were excited!!!  :)   HAd to put this one in because it TOTALLY cracks me up.  I think they look soo much alike (I think the heat is putting them under its spell)

Can’t forget THIS important detail.  Notice the mini-train in his hand.  He has to have one at all times.  :( )

^ Waiting the second time around…you can’t go to the train park and go just ONCE!!!   :)

Had an awesome morning/afternoon with the kiddos!  I’m so glad I was finally able to take Fella there!!!  :)   MORE train park pics TOMORROW…including a couple in the TUNNEL!!!

Have a lovely day!

so safe, so loved

Aren’t they gorgeous?

These two models, from a past workshop, show how strong the mother and a baby bond is.  Even with just hand holding, it’s obvious how safe (and loved) baby W feels — even with a bazillion cameras in her face.  Thank you, E for sharing yourself and little W that day.  :)   You both completely glow!    ~m

^ Taking a swimming break.  :)   Definitely happy!  [Picture smaller in below storyboard, but I just HAD to show it large.]

^ THIS is going in his room. I’ve been waiting for the right picture to come along.  :)

^ Contemplating a jump.  This image is so him!

My next photography purchase has a LOT to do with the water…can’t wait to share.

THINKING AHEAD — I booked three fall sessions on Wednesday alone, so if you’re thinking about getting family, maternity, newborn, or baby/child photos done, give me a call (or email) and we’ll chat.    Many are booking September, October and November sessions for holiday images/cards .  I’m definitely setting limits on sessions during the fall, so get them while they’re hot!  :)

I’m contemplating a mini-session day, so stay tuned for that.  More holiday details coming in the next couple weeks!

Hubs and I are in TUCSON this weekend.  Took a last minute vay-cay-cay up here…the parentals offered a night away and CHAAAAA…we took them up on it.  Despite an awful migraine mid-day, the trip has been awesome.  Nap, movie, dinner…super relaxing & just what the doctor ordered!  :)   THANKS mom & dad!

Hope your day is fab!  ~m
