{love these two}
SO much to be thankful for–I really pondered that today, too. :)

We had Thanksgiving at our house this year and it was just lovely! We didn’t catch the house on fire or anything (first annual deep fried turkey!), which was a bonus. :) Lots of great food, conversation, lovies, playing, laughter, AND Aunt Bib is in town, so that’s always excellent.

Hubs and I just got back from an evening/morning? (<–we went at midnight) of Black Friday shopping craziness. It was a TOTAL madhouse–like the WHOLE mall parking lot was full when we left at 1:30am!!! I’m gonna need a couple days to just recover from that!!!

Any fun/awesome deals out there???
Have one fabulous day!

Aren’t these two little lads the CUTEST??? :)

When I went to take a vertical pic of them, one little guy turned his head to the side just like me. IT WAS SOOO adorable!!! :)

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving! ~m

During the maternity shoot at the ranch, my pal T, her pal T and I drove all over an almost dried up riverbed searching for good spots. We 4-wheeled it all over the place and had a GREAT time.

We got wet, dirty, and almost stung by several bees, but we left there with smiles on our faces and a swing in our steps.

I know you want to hear a story that tells of a wild dog approaching us out in the wilderness (doesn’t that sound excitingly scary?), but it was just Curly, one of the ranch dogs. Adding Curly to the mix (with his reflection) sure made this a pretty neat-o pic. It’s not everyday that I can do anything I want to do with a model, in a gorgeous setting, and then a DOG walks into view. Woo hoooo!!!

You’re gorgeous, T, and I can’t wait to show you the rest!

Have a spectacular day!!! ~m

What a cutie pie!!!

She was posing — ALL fun & spunk — during her family shoot. I loved it. LOVED that she felt comfortable enough with me to just be her amazing little self.

I’m in the midst of editing (a TON) — and getting my house ready for Thanksgiving. Yipes. Can’t wait for you to see all the pics that are waiting to be edited!

Have a super day!

:::more of this gorgeous family below:::

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

WHAT a weekend.

We had an absolute blast at a 23,000 acre ranch out near Prescott. It was, not only a stunning property, but we met (and stayed with) the nicest, most hospitable people, and the kids loved the freedom of ranch life.

Peach spent 99.9% of the time with a kitty in her arms and glued to a new little 4-year-old friend she made. She had perma-grin the whole time and it felt like I barely saw her. :)

Fella loved chasing the kitties, and, of course, rides on the 4-wheeler and rock throwing.

I cannot even explain how I felt. I loved the extra family time and peaceful beauty there. It was a much needed break from the fast-paced life in which we live!

While we were there, I had the pleasure of taking pictures of a dear friend of mine and her stunning family. She is also a photographer in the valley and is expecting baby number three in several weeks.

Taking pics of another photographer was HARD work!!! :) But definitely fun.   Check out this little beauty!

And her beautiful twin sis…

I just have to say that I *LOVE* how T stepped out of the box and dressed her fam in bright colors.  I think it really makes her family pop and look so fresh and stylish.

We had our family pics taken, too, so be on the lookout for some of those! Listen to this…seriously 7 minutes before our photo shoot, my hubby went to the car to get some shoes and BAM! walked right into a tree branch he couldn’t see because of the sun.  Mmmm hmmmm…that branch left a HUGE scratch all over his face!!! :) Go figure! At least we have a good story AND some Photoshop practice!

Stay tuned for:::more Sedona pics, AND a super fun, outdoorsy, chic maternity shoot done at the ranch this weekend.

Have a spectacular week and thank you SOOOO very much {P family} for such a fun trip AND to the amazing K family for having us.    I feel recharged. :)   Yipppeeee.   ~m

:::What I love about this image::: With large families, moments like this don’t just happen. They’re usually staged. THIS one just happened. After some posed group shots, we headed over to the ledge to take in the beauty of the land and BAM! this is what I saw. Now, of course, once everyone was there I said….WHOA…stay right there looking out…and make sure you’re really close with your family group…so it wasn’t “posed” per se. A lucky, gorgeous moment of an extended family at peace, together, taking in a breathtaking view.

Ahhh…where do I begin? I was contacted several months ago about photographing a family of 17. Two parents (grandparents now!), their 5 children — some with their spouses (adults now!) and THEIR 7 children (the grandkids). All of them were meeting in Sedona for a family reunion of sorts. Because it’s so hard to get 17 people together, they just don’t know how long it will be before this happens again. I was contacted because the siblings wanted to get pics for the grandparents — to capture this rare time when the WHOLE family was together.

I have to be honest and say that large groups definitely aren’t something I’m used to or gravitate toward. Because so many individuals are involved, it’s hard to get creative and do all those special things I love to do when it’s just a family of 4. BUT, I decided to give it a whirl.

The week before our shoot, one son (the hubby of a lovely pal from middle school!) went scouting locations. When I got there, the afternoon of the shoot, the WHOLE gang was ready (WOW–that’s a feat in itself!) and we piled in a 15 passenger van (PLUS a truck behind the van!) and headed up, up, up a mountain. This was 20 minutes of dirt road crazy bumpiness — so worth it though! The spot he found was terrific. Peaceful, gorgeous, & scenic with TONS of variety. We set to work right away!

One of the siblings immediately took charge and relayed my ideas to the group, which was SO nice. She could call out specific names if I had a request for an individual or family grouping. She and her sister-in-law (my pal!) also had lots of fun ideas, which I ALWAYS love and appreciate. I think it’s awesome when my clients feel comfortable enough to give me an original idea of theirs — it seriously MAKES a photo shoot. LOVE it!

So, yeah. Now I can say I photographed a group of 17. It was *so* much better than I thought it would be because of the constant help from the family, great listening (which is essential in those big posed shots!!!), and just laid back nature of everyone. EVERYONE was just a joy! :)

Because we were so efficient up there, I got lots of pics of individual families, grandkids, the grandparents with their kids, grandparents with the grandkids….and so on! Can’t wait to show you guys some of my faves!!! (it’ll be a week or so while I tie up all the holiday card ordering and finish up two more galleries).

***Lucky ME*** My fam and I are actually getting OUR pictures taken this weekend (and YES…I’ve royally stressed about the outfits and accessories!!!) up at a ranch near Prescott. We will have no cell or internet access, so I’m going to be out of touch for a couple days enjoying horses, cows, campfires, kids being kids, the company of friends, and gorgeous wide open spaces. Could it get any better???? Oh, and there’s a RED BARN there, too. Wooo hooo! :) Don’t worry, I’ll be working (ie taking LOTS of pics!), so you’ll see some ultra fun images when we return.

Have one fabulous weekend. ~m

{my cutie little 4-year-old}

Believe it or not…this particular day she was READY to do a little posing for me. I was totally shocked, and although it lasted about 2.5 minutes, that was all I really needed.

Peach is a terrific kiddo — one thing that I absolutely love about her is that she can be rough and tumble, picking up worms galore with dirt and paint all over her, while insisting on wearing a dress, or something special that reminds her of Cinderella. Too cute.

About 20 minutes after this shoot, she was completely up to her ears in mud. Gotta love it.

Have a super day. ~m

so I tried to post these at 3am, BUT my blog wasn’t coming up!!!  So here’s your daily fix.  :)

I just *love* these two.  It seems like we’ve known them forever, but it’s only been 4 years.  Long enough to know the ins and outs of their super fun, energetic fam.  Speaking of high energy…these kids took the cake.  They were all over the place, exploring, laughing, getting pricked by cactus, climbing…it was fun (well, except the cactus part, but little C took that like a champ).  ;)

The outfits at this session were all inspired by these super sweet boots on little C.  Everything fell into place after that!  Are they’re just perfectly adorable???

Hope you like the sneak peek, J, and I can’t wait to show you more!!!

Have a fun day!     ~m
