This time of year is absolutely crazy! Ever since we got back from our trip to Cali in August, it feels like there have been non-stop sessions to gear up for the holidays. I had to turn several families away for pictures this year, which has been difficult, but I wanted to make sure that I didn’t spread myself out too thin. All my pics to Disneyland are filling space on my external drive, unedited. I’ve GOT to get those pics of Peach holding hands with Cinderella ready to go!!!

One thing I’ve missed terribly these past couple months is REALLY shooting pics for me. Getting out there in a new place and just workin’ it. :) I feel like I long for that every once in a while and this week in Sedona, I was actually able to. A couple times when we were exploring the city (and surrounding cities), my mom and I would see a spot with tons of potential (i.e. SUPER run down) and we literally stopped the car and everyone piled out.

It was SO fun and refreshing AND the kids were cool with it (woo hooo!). They love to explore, too, so, really, everyone got something out of the experience!

I really have so many I’d love to share, but my editing time has been spent on getting sessions ready to go for families! By this weekend, I intend on having every session completed, which is an incredible feeling. ONE more session to shoot this week. TWO more sessions next weekend up at a ranch near Prescott. Then, I’m pretty much done for the season!

Oh, AND because it just wouldn’t be right if we didn’t, MY FAM is getting our pics taken next weekend. I honestly know how hard it is to choose the right clothing for a session because I’m in the middle of that dilemma right now!!!

Enough rambling…. :)

R, D, and B families + Dr. F….I am working round the clock to get images all ready for ya. Can’t wait for you to see everything!!! Have a super rest of your weekend, everyone, and thanks for the Sedona info, too, on my previous post! I feel so refreshed after our trip and being surrounded by all that beauty. ~m

This is one of those images that tells a story of happiness, tenderness and wonder. One that I can look back at in several years and smile at the bond between my kiddos. My two incredibly hands-on kids love everything about water and the outdoors. Peach started off this particular hike in jeans, shirt, and a sweater, and by the time we were ready to go, she was down to a t-shirt and some muddy underwear. :)

They would be outside 100% of the time if they could — the more creepy crawlies, rocks, sticks, leaves, the better! :)

Sedona was INCREDIBLE!!! I took oodles of pics and can't wait to start editing the whole lot of 'em! LOTS of fun, creative, shoot for myself images, which I've really missed doing lately. And unfortunately, editing pics for ME has to be put on hold for a bit while I work on pics for families wanting holiday card and gifts for their families. :)

The major photo shoot I traveled up there for went fantastically well. I'll post some sneak peeks pretty soon here -- it was definitely unlike ANYTHING I've done before!

Have an awesome day.

up, up & away

My mom, the kiddos and I are headed up to Sedona & Cottonwood for a couple days to do some photo shoots! Well, I’m doing the shoots…they’re coming along for the ride (AKA mini-vacation). Anytime antiques are involved, my mom is definitely there!!!

Soooo, because I have no idea if the hotel has wireless, I’m going to just say it doesn’t and let ya’ll know that I won’t be here for two WHOLE days!

Anyone have any favorite spots in one of those two cities for some picture takin’???

I wanted to share the love for some grandparents that were part of the Prescott photo shoot I did a week ago. It was *so* much fun having them there.

:::And the lovely couple in action:::

Have a great next couple days!!! ~m

SERIOUSLY, nothing is better than a sweeter-than-sweet mom/kid kiss. This ranks up there with my fav kiss shots.

Anyone have a preference? Mine is the vintage in the middle. I think it softens the mom and son just enough and makes their skin glow. LOVE how it still keeps the color pop, too!

I FINISHED this session tonight. Yessss! Onto the R and D families next — I know you’ve been waiting ever so patiently!

Have a great one! ~m

Five more sessions before a little holiday break!!!  Wooo hooo!

*****IF you are a current client and have been waiting on ordering holiday cards, your deadline for ordering is quickly approaching. We need to have figured all of that out together (in your cart) by November 22nd (the sooner, the better, however!).   If you’re a client who hasn’t quite seen your gallery yet, no worries, we’ll make it happen. :)

I am already booking into January and February, so if you’re interested, send me an email and we’ll solidify a date!

If you recently purchased a gift certificate at the open house, setting up a tenative date would be awesome.  That way, we can make sure and get you in when it’s most convenient!

Here’s a SUPER fun candid image of this terrific family.  :)   I just LOVE them. Check out every adorable head in the pic — each one is going a separate direction and there are so many different types of emotion.

Have a great day!  ~m

I had a photo session with one AMAZING family today for Celebrating Adoption. Look at how the little guy’s hand is in mom’s hair! :)

After months and months of only knowing their son through pictures and videos, the B family traveled to Guatemala two weeks ago to officially adopt this cutie.  He smiled, and smiled, and did some more smiling.  :)

His big sister was equally adorable and full of typical four-year-old energy.  I wouldn’t have it any other way! This hat pic is for you, H! :)

Are they perfect or what??? :) Look at little J smiling all over the place!

It was such an honor to photography this family.  I just loved their connection — everyone was just oozing love and happiness. Can’t wait to show you guys the rest (stay tuned for another sneak peek in a week or so)!  Have a wonderful weekend.  ~m

Oh man. I love this pic. :) When mom and I were talking about what she wanted to capture at her session, she talked about this cute costume her son wears ALL the time. Then she went on to say that her daughter loves to follow him around and do whatever he’s doing. Ummm…we captured EXACTLY that. :) Phew! I love how busy he looks — like this superhero stuff is serious business.

Little splash of color for ya!
Lately, I’ve been really into the vintage look with photos (a little yellow tint, where some color is subdued). Most clients have been receiving THREE versions of images in their online photo cart — color, vintage, and black and white. I love the variety and hope you do, too!

The photo on the L is vintage, on the R is regular color!

Have a super weekend. We’re off to gymnastics and then I have a Celebrating Adoption photo shoot. Can’t wait! ~m

So, as you know, tonight was the holiday open house that I’ve been gabbing about for several weeks.

After MUCH planning (what should my “booth” look like? what should I “sell” at something like this? what should some new postcards to promote my business look like? what images really speak to me so I can display them? ) and many late nights (<—but hey, I do that anyway), the open house HAPPENED and it was SO awesome!

I met so many new & exciting people, and saw three past clients that booked sessions (thanks for driving so far, ladies!). :) I am thrilled to say that from January through June, I’ll be photographing several more expectant moms and newborns, and many, many more Phoenix area children and families.

The BEST thing was the everyone was so excited. Thrilled to get professional images of their children and celebrate their times together as a family. I cannot WAIT!!!

I even saw a woman who I went to middle school with (the whole 3 years we lived in AZ when I was young!)– that was FUN! :)

Thank you TONS, Julie, for planning this wonderful night AND thank you Steph for volunteering to help me — you’re the best! :) {mwah!}

{Sorry no pic — I meant to take some tonight} ~m

This is the look I got right before they received two juicy, colorful lollipops (they’re in my hand!).  :)   It completely cracks me up because I just FEEL them ready to pounce…

Have a super day!   ~m

Oh..and see some of you at the Holiday Open House this evening where you can purchase 1-6/2009 sessions for half off!!!  :)

Check out the bottom right of the image.  :)

As I’ve said before, I’m up for ANYTHING during photo sessions.  I love it when families want to do something out of the box.  Something that is meaningful to them!

I thought the idea of Leo (he’s still a puppy but is a BIG dude!) was awesome…and then I met him and he was as cute as can be.  :)   He was particularly well behaved during our more traditional family shots, too.  THEN, for the rest of the shoot, he just chilled in the bed of dad’s truck.  Awesome!

If you have a session coming up, let’s make it different and fun — I’ll help if you need me to!  ~m

P.S…anyone coming over to the holiday open house on Thurs????  :)   I’d love to see you there and you’ll get QUITE a deal (HALF OFF!!!) on session fees for 2009 (Jan through June).  I don’t plan on offering a discount like that again!

I’ve received some emails from clients wanting to purchase a session for a prego friend, or family member — I think that’s AWESOME!  Can you imagine getting a photo session as a gift?  There sure is nothing like it & your friend or family member will have those images to cherish for a long time.

Send me an email if you’d like an Evite to the Thursday fiesta!  Woo hooooo!
