A Chilly Blast | Boulder Family Photographer

Monday, December 28th, 2009

Oh wow. Today’s session was JUST what I needed. I left this family session with frozen fingertips and legs (I did some crazy moves in the snow for “THE shot” today!) BUT I was completely and totally warm inside. I met with such a fabulous family very near to where my husband’s family lives in Colorado. Hubs and I met at the University of Colorado in Boulder, and this is the same school where I met the mom of today’s session. We are sorority sisters and have Facebook to thank for our meetup — it was incredible to see her again AND so much fun to meet her gorgeous, fun, spunky, hilarious family. We spent 99% of the shoot laughing!

Check out these stunning little ladies…

And one last one of the fam. :)

I edited TONS of fabulous images this eve and didn’t even get to some of my VERY favorites of the girlies on a bright red caboose…guess you’ll have to check back in a couple days for that!

Have a lovely day and thanks K & J for such a wonderful time!

Ahh…fresh, crisp, chilly Colorado air. Oh how we LOVE Colorado at Christmas! The kiddos couldn’t wait to play in the snow, so about an hour after arriving at our destination yesterday, they were happy and frozen. :) Snow angels were made, icicles were broken off stair railings, snowballs were thrown (and eaten) — most of all there was running. Just carefree tromping through the snow with ginormous smiles. Can’t ask for more than that! :)

We spent some more time in the white goodness today and went sledding with some of our family. Everyone had an absolute blast — only minor injuries! Peach was incredibly brave (as usual) and hit the jump full force (thanks to her uncle!) several times. We’re hoping to head to “The Pit” several more times in the next couple days.

IMG_1568web Lots more to post from our sledding adventures…

Stay tuned for those pics AND a chilly downtown family session I’m going to have tomorrow. SOOO so excited to meet this family (I know mom from waaay back)!

Have a super day!

She’s early!!! | Dallas newborn photography

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

This cutie’s momma and I met over 4 years ago. In fact, she came to our house for a playgroup when her oldest son was a mere six weeks old. I remember feeling a mom/teacher/artist/friend connection right away and we’ve definitely bonded throughout the years with life’s ups and downs. :)   Our kiddos have grown up singing Happy Birthday to each other year after year and have played for as long as they can remember.   The hard part about our family being in Texas now is missing out on the day-to-day fun with our Phoenix friends — the Bales, Robertsons, Finchers, Arces…zoo trips with the Baneys.

I was really REALLY hoping to be able to photograph the birth of this little lady, but she surprised her family more than FIVE weeks early!!! I just feel fortunate to be able to capture her in her newborn state! Typically, I only photograph newborns around 6-10 days old, but since she was born so early (AND we didn’t have much of a choice with my travel plans to AZ) we gave it a whirl! It’s typically more difficult to get older babies to sleep, and she definitely fought, but we got plenty of lovely newborn images.

Can’t wait to watch this little lady grow up. Love ya, C!!!
Have a lovely day!

Is Santa’s beard real? | Dallas Family Photography

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

On the way to hubby’s work holiday party this weekend, the kiddos giggled in the back seat about Santa’s beard being real…and who was going to give it a little tug to see if it was. My eyeballs bulged in the front seat — nervous that one of them would really go through with it!!! :)

Good thing his beard was the real deal (and it was obvious, thank goodness!) so no parents had to be embarrassed in this little venture.

I love watching the initial interactions and glances with Santa after a whole year has gone by. During that year, kiddos grow up so much and it’s always a mixture of a little shy, a little sweet, and a little spunk. The magic of the season is truly something I cherish — hope you’re getting to enjoy it a bit even though this time of year is so fast-paced!

Have a wonderful day!

There’s a chill in the air! | DFW Child Photographer

Sunday, December 13th, 2009

Last week was SUPER chilly! We even drove to the bus stop to pick up Peach each day in fear of frozen fingers and noses. :) It might not seem cold to all the Colorado folk out there (the high was in the 30s one day — THIRTEEN degrees with the wind chill!) BUT it’s quite a change for our family (accustomed to AZ “winters”!).

Here’s a shot of my little Fella…one afternoon we had fun throwing the red, orange, and yellow leaves in our yard and the little guy stopped for a minute so I could snap this quick pic.

We saw Santa last night at my hubby’s holiday party — pics edited (and shared) soon after I finish a rockin’ client album. Stay tuuuuned. ;) Oh, and Peach has a Christmas ballet & tap recital today, so I’m SURE I’ll have some to share from that, too. It’ll be SO special to see her little proud smile from the auditorium seats as she taps across that stage!

Have a lovely rest of your weekend!

{Giving is Awesome} | Dallas Fort Worth Photographer

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

givingisawesome900x100Giving back to the community, ESPECIALLY during this time of year, is very important to me.  I am SO pleased to be part of an incredible worldwide photographic effort called “Giving is Awesome.”    What is this “Giving is Awesome,” you ask???

You know someone.  You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances.  You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would absolutely cherish it this holiday season.  You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love and beauty.

You know someone, I guarantee it!

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography — over $2000 worth!  Whether it’s canvas on their walls, prints for Grandma, or a slideshow to watch over and over, it’s in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season.

And a SUPER cool perk???  The person who nominates the winner receives their very own session and $325 print credit.   Sweeeet!

SO, what do you need to do???  Nomination details are below:

* You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services.

* The nominee must reside in Texas and be within a 40 mile radius of my studio (76034).

* You must email the full story — who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they are deserving of such a gift — to by Sunday, December 20, 2009.  OR you can {click here} and fill out a form — whatever is easiest!

* The deserving family will be announced on Christmas Eve, so get nominating!  I can’t WAIT to read all of your entries!  Better yet — I can’t WAIT to photograph this family!

Open your heart to someone this holiday season, and THANK YOU, in advance, for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

My best,
